There was once a self centered girl with stars in her eyes, ideals in her head. She thought she was a woman. It could be said that she was completely delusional. She fell in love as most young girls do and married a realistic young man who thought he was prepared for what he was in for. It could be said that he was similar to his wife in delusion.
One day God decided that he loved the girl and he wanted her to be better.
The girl got sick. There were days she didn't know if she would make it. She was forced into the depths of humility. For 280 continuous days she was sick. And the moment they placed the 6 lb 4 oz baby girl in her arms, 280 continuous days seemed like such a small price to pay.
In this baby she found new and exciting experiences that came with being a mother. Each day was an adventure.
After awhile the girl's heart began to feel lonely. For almost two years she was lonely for a person she didn't even know. And then came the sick. It was still miserable, but she touched her stomach every night and knew that it would be worth it. And her second 6 lb 4 oz baby girl was breathtakingly beautiful.
In this baby she found patience and a confidence she didn't have the first time around.
To these babies, the girl gave up her thick hair, cavity free teeth, sanity, dreams, 19 inch waist, ambitions, chance for a career, beautiful breasts, sleep, carefree living, stretch mark free skin, freedom- her will.
And the irony is this. In giving herself, the girl became a mother and in becoming a mother, the girl finally became a woman.
